About Houston Landscape Pros

Houston Landscape Pros specializes in outdoor living. We are a locally owned Houston Company that has over 20 years of experience in landscaping. All our quotes and consultations are FREE and guarantee all our work. We recently united our family businesses into one. The Solano family has serviced Houston since 1984 and now the second generation has joined together to market their business together.

We launched with the premise of providing the highest quality home improvement service available while maintaining the most affordable prices. In many large projects, we are known to save our customers up to 20% when compared to larger, reputable landscape companies. Those price savings are more prominent on landscape drainage, new lawn sprinkler installation and complete landscape designs. Of course, our other services are very competitive and will save you a considerable amount as well.

In our residential services, we are able to give a great price while supplying our customers with commercial grade parts and professional installation. Though larger-scale landscape companies provide that service, they have to charge higher price due to the big over head that they carry. Please consider that we do not pay for traditional advertising. We are not in any magazines, newspapers, journals, or search engine advertisements. Our nonexistent advertising budget means that the price of advertising is missing from the prices we charge to our customers. Our budget-conscious customers benefit because they do not have to settle for second-class service or the disappointing work of a less reputable company because we provide professional service that the average homeowner can afford.

Our lifeline is based on satisfied customers giving referrals to their friends, neighbors, and family. If you are reading this webpage, you may be questioning this fancy website and thinking that it must cost a pretty penny. In our case, it does not because Marvin created our website so that we did not have to pay for that service.

Did you know that a half-page advertisement in a local magazine costs above $30,000 per year? A small company can easily pay over $100,000 on just print ads. If a company has to pay that much to advertise, it will likely find itself in a position where it is necessary to pass the cost of doing business on to the customer by increasing the price of their services. Those companies will also try to accept as many jobs as possible to compensate for the cost of advertising. Increasing the number of jobs results in pressure to work quickly and jeopardize the quality of the work done.

The Internet has changed and has continued to change the landscape of the advertising industry. Our marketing strategy would not have been possible 10 years ago. Clients find us because we use Search Engine Optimization and Marvin’s web design strategies to increase the likelihood that people looking online for our services will find us.

Another reason we have lower prices is due to our experience and knowledge. Home improvement costs can be broken down into two major costs: labor hours and the cost of material. Someone who is not very knowledgeable about a job will take longer and cost more that an expert because they will not make efficient use of time and materials. We understand that greater efficiency will result in less waste of valuable tile and resources as well as more money saved for the client. Therefore, having a knowledgeable team guarantees quality work.

Well, Houston Landscape Pros was founded by three members of the Solano family. Each of them has their own unique expertise. The names of the founders are William, Irza & Marvin.

Marvin is the founder of FloorJunkies.com and ModuTile.com in Houston, Texas in 2005. The company manufactures garage floor tiles and basement floor tiles right here in Houston, Texas. Via these two websites, he is able to sell products nationwide. His products are also sold to large corporations such as Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart and Ace Hardware. The product ideas come from way back when Marvin was studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota (1991 - 1995). In cold places, such as Minnesota, most of the houses have basements that are humid, and so finding a suitable flooring solution is hard. This is where the basement interlocking floor tile idea comes from. With some research, the interlocking tile was designed and manufactured beginning in 2006.

Marvin’s specialty in online marketing allows the end consumer to save as much as 50% on garage floor tiles that are made in the USA. If you want to see for yourself, just type ModuTile or Floor Junkies on any major search engine and you will find them quickly. In fact, many of you visiting www.HoustonLandscpePros.com are doing so because you found us while searching on the web.

Our marketing efforts consist of using the knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) marketing to advertise via Google, Yahoo and Bing. This is 100% free and allows us to reach more potential clients at almost no cost. This website was built by Marvin, and the content is a collaboration of the three of us. This nontraditional approach to advertising for our company saves us money and allows us to pass our savings to our customers. Our customers benefit because they do not have to settle for second class service or disappointing work since we give professional service and home improvements for a fraction of the cost of our competitors.

William manages all our Houston Landscaping services, including full landscaping installations, landscape drainage, irrigation installation and lawn maintenance. He married Marvin’s sister Irza back in 1995, and shortly afterward, started working with Marvin Solano Sr., who has owned and operated a large landscaping company in Houston since 1984. They do only commercial projects that are as large as half a million dollars for full apartment landscaping and irrigation installations.

William formed his owned company in 2010 to service residential customers. Within a short year, he was able to establish two full crews with professional equipment. The equipment makes a difference on the job efficiencies that allows better quality job and competitive pricing.

William is not to be confused with one of the many inexperienced entrepreneurs in the Houston area who own a truck and a lawnmower and call themselves landscapers. He is a licensed Irrigators and has taken many hours of training in the field of landscape drainage, lawn sprinklers, landscaping as well as outdoor lighting. He uses the best possible equipment available including Ford trucks with commercial John Deere lawn equipment. Of course, it is not just the equipment. The knowledge of proper landscaping installations, landscape drainage, and landscape sprinkler system installations makes all the difference.

For example, a novice landscaper may make the mistake of installing landscaping without any soil preparation, which is one of the most important aspects of a new installation. The last thing any customer wants to see is their landscaping dying after a couple of months of installation due to lack of planning and knowledge of the person they trusted with their project. We bring a wealth of knowledge about proper landscape drainage, landscape design, and plants that thrive in our Houston climate.

One other simple example of common mistakes occurs when installing a new irrigation sprinkler system. Many customers don’t realize it, but the proper installation of an irrigation system all depends on water conservation. The design of the irrigation system is based on using water efficiently and not about building the cheapest possible design. For example, many companies offer lower prices by designing an irrigation that has less stations. Less stations means less control of where you can irrigate at any given time. Many irrigation companies combine a landscaping bed station with a lawn area. This cuts the initial cost, but it also takes away the possibility of saving water. If one of the areas needs less water, you will not be able to control it independently, and you will end up wasting water. This example shows why having a licensed irrigation specialist is important. In landscaping installation, the use of the proper fertilizer is important for the longevity of the plants. In landscaping drainage, the proper installation is vital for water flow.

The last but not least member of our group is Irza. She also worked in her father’s commercial landscaping company. One of her important contributions to the company was taking part in the creation of a plant nursery at her dad’s ranch in Columbus, Texas. She also participated in the opening of Texas Growers Nursery, which is a plant nursery in Richmond, Texas that it is still in full operation today. While working for her father, she was extremely involved in many of the landscape designs and gained much invaluable experience. Now her expertise is custom landscaping tailored to each unique customer’s preference, location, and expectations. She can transform a simple back yard to a much more useable & enjoyable living area whether it is for the owners own entertainment or entertainment for family and friends. Irza brings not only a woman’s perspective into the landscape but also specific ideas based on the location and customers’ input. This includes but is not limited to fountains, big moss boulders, big pots arrangements, small cedar pergolas, and ponds with koi fish.

For landscaping installations, there are few professional companies that can beat our prices. We have over 20 years of experience on the field doing large commercial installations. We can help you on full landscaping (front and back yards), landscape drainage, new irrigation installations and low maintenance. Some services are limited to Southwest Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Richmond, Missouri City, Texas (TX).

Please note that we only service Houston and its surrounding communities such as Katy, Sugar Land, Richmond, Missouri City, Cypress and others. Because websites are international, please note that if you are not with 20 miles of Houston, Texas we simply cannot provide you service. Of course, we are working on various Do-it-Yourself articles on our upcoming blog section, and you are welcome to read them and hopefully benefit from the information provided.
